School Committee Accomplishments
Just a few of the key initiatives the Holliston School Committee has worked on during my time serving include:
Teacher Contract: The HSC successfully negotiated a three-year contract for 2023-2026 that supports both teachers and students. The agreement included compensation that reflects our appreciation for our educators while also increasing instructional time for students.
Holliston High School Schedule: Collaborated with administrators and teachers to transition from a block schedule to a more traditional 7-drop-2 model. This allows for year-long classes and dedicated time for electives such as band and art. These changes benefit all students and improve access to electives, particularly for those receiving additional services.
District Leadership: Lead a comprehensive, community-based search for a new Superintendent, resulting in the hiring of Dr. Kimo Carter. Also supported key leadership transitions, including the return of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and the hiring of a new Director of Teaching and Learning.
Math Leveling Subcommittee: As Co-Chair, worked with educators and community members to reinstate a full year of Algebra I in 8th grade and an accelerated math option in 7th grade.
Data-Driven Approach: Supported the use of data to evaluate instructional effectiveness and ensure we are meeting the needs of all students, including low-income students, multilingual learners, and historically marginalized groups. Additionally, data is used to help identify when students demonstrate readiness for more challenging work or to provide extra supports when needed
